The License Bureau now has two separate Service Counters. The indoor Service Counter is mainly by appointment for Driver’s License/ID/Permit applications. The Outdoor Walk-Up Window is a walk-up service, first come first served, for Motor Vehicle, DNR, and Limited Driver’s License Services.
License Bureau Indoor Service Counter, located in the Government Center, Room 160
Hours: Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. & 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Walk ins accepted 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. & 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
License Bureau Outdoor Walk-Up Window, located on the South side (lake side) of the building, with the line forming outside.
Hours: Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
This Counter is a walk-up service, first come first served, for Motor Vehicle, DNR, and Limited Driver’s License Services.
Appointments can be made for the Indoor Service Counter. Appointments are released in two week increments every other Friday at 8 a.m.
We accept appointments for Driver's License/ID Card/Permit applications, including REAL ID and Enhanced applications. All customers must check in with a deputy before proceeding to the Indoor Service Counter.
Changing/Updating the name on your card requires you first update with Social Security. Once the name has been changed with Social Security, you can complete an application. You will be required to show a certified copy of the name change document (marriage certificate, Divorce decree, or court ordered name change document).
We will only accept walk-in applications between 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Appointments are served first and with priority, and there is no guarantee on wait times. We reserve the right to cut off walk ins earlier depending on the customer volume. ALL walk-ins must check in with the deputy first and must wait in the designated area.
We also accept appointments for Motor Vehicle transfers and transactions.
Services provided at the License Bureau Outdoor Walk-Up Window (located on the south side (lake side) of the building, with the line forming outside):
All Motor Vehicle transactions (tab renewals, title transfers, lost plates/tabs, duplicate titles, out of state registrations, etc.).
Insurance is REQUIRED for registration renewal, title transfer, or application for new title/registration. Proof of insurance for the vehicle covered must include: Insurance company name, Policy number, and Policy expiration date. View Minnesota Statute 169.798 for more details.
All DNR transactions (renewals, transfers, Hunting and Fishing licenses, etc.).
Limited Driver's License Services (Disability Parking Certificates, CDL Medical Certificates, Paying Reinstatement (Cash or Credit/Debit ONLY),turning in missing documentation, limited duplicate license or ID applications, limited standard license renewals).

Skip the line and renew your tabs through our Drop Box
You can use the Drive-up secure drop box located on the East side of the building or the secure drop box located in our lobby. Transactions are processed, and your tabs will be mailed back to you. Please make sure to include exact cash or a check made payment to Wright County Auditor/Treasurer.
