Shoe Drive to Benefit Suicide Prevention Programs

Central MN Mental Health Center (CMMHC) is collecting new and gently used shoes to help raise money for ongoing suicide prevention and awareness efforts. Collection boxes are in the lobbies of the Government Center and Health Services Center in Buffalo from August 15 to October 15.

This event coincides with September’s National Suicide Awareness Month and will help bring awareness to suicide prevention efforts. CMMHC is celebrating 60 years of helping those with mental and chemical health issues live a healthier life.

The collected shoes are dispersed to developing countries for re-sale by local residents. In addition to helping create business opportunities for those living in poverty, this project reduces the environmental impact of discarding unwanted shoes.
