The United States Census Bureau completed its decennial population count in 2020, but there are hiring opportunities for well-paying positions for field representatives with the American Housing Survey (AHS).
The AHS is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau every two years in odd-numbered years. The AHS provides a current and continuous series of data on selected housing and demographic characteristics. Policy analysts, program managers, budget analysts and government agencies use AHS data to monitor supply and demand changes in housing as well as costs to assess housing needs.
Field representatives will collect data between the months of May and September 2021. The Census Bureau is seeking field representatives who know their communities and can be instrumental in conducting surveys with residents on a variety of topics. Positions have a salary range of $15.10 to $21.86 an hour. Field representatives work out of their homes and are reimbursed for mileage.
