Broadband Project Summary

Wright County was awarded grant funds from the federal government as part of a Federal Coronavirus Relief Package titled the American Rescue Plan (ARP). With these funds, Wright County has awarded grants to multiple internet service providers. The following chart shows a summary to date.

2022 Wright County Grants

In Spring 2022, the County awarded 11 grants to multiple internet service providers in the county, for a total of $1,925,353. With these grants, the County will help bring improved service to up to 1,645 homes and businesses.

2022 Local Contributions for Border to Border Grants

The State of Minnesota operates the Border-to-Border Broadband Development Grant Program, which funds the expansion of broadband service to areas of Minnesota that are unserved or underserved.  In 2022, Wright County offered local contributions for two successful grant applications, for a total amount of $171,700.  The projects will bring improved service to 1,050 homes and businesses.

2023 Local Contributions for Border to Border Grants

In the 2023 grant round, Wright County offered local contributions for three successful grant applications, for a total amount of $1.996,065.  The projects will bring improved service to 1,097 homes and businesses.

2023 Wright County Grant

In addition to the local contributions made during the 2023 Border to Border Grant round, Wright County committed an additional match to a project in Cokato Township, contingent upon the state awarding funds to the project in French Lake.  Since the French Lake project was successful, Meeker Cooperative will be moving forward with the Cokato Township project.
