The Wright County Veteran Services (WCVS) Department would like to sincerely thank the many Facebook users that assisted in helping the department track down the descendants of Lorenzo D. Johnson, a Civil War veteran whose gravestone was discovered in the trunk of a car in a St. Cloud salvage yard late last week.
After taking possession of the grave marker, WCVS staff attempted to track Mr. Johnson through Veterans Affairs resources and documentation with no success. Through the help of Facebook users, who made the department aware of websites like www.findagrave.com and through Ancestry.com account holders, not only was information gathered on the exact location of Mr. Anderson’s grave, but they were able to track down three living ancestors in Minnesota – two great grandsons and one great granddaughter. Through their efforts, WCVS was able to contact the family members and prepare to deliver the grave marker to the family for placement at the Marshall Cemetery in Wadena County.
It is with much appreciation that the WCVS office gives its heartfelt thanks to those on Facebook for helping to bring a happy resolution to this situation for Mr. Johnson and his descendants.
