A Statement from the Wright County Sheriff’s Office
On March 14, 2022 at approximately 5:58 a.m., Wright County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) Communications received a report of a motor vehicle crash with injuries at the intersection of Co. Rd. 37 NE/Edmonson Avenue NE in Monticello Township. Deputies located a silver F-150 pickup truck on the north shoulder of Co. Rd. 37 NE east of Edmondson Avenue NE. Deputies also located a silver Chevrolet S-10 pickup with heavy front-end damage in the north ditch of Co. Rd. 37 NE. east of Edmondson Avenue NE. Road conditions were poor with snow covered roads. There was heavy blowing snow at the time of the crash. Evidence and witness statements gathered by deputies showed the silver F-150 being driven by Jake Rand (25-year-old from Buffalo) was travelling eastbound on Co. Rd. 37 NE and struck the silver Chevrolet S-10 pickup that was traveling northbound on Edmondson Avenue. Witnesses stated the S-10 pickup stopped at the stop sign but then pulled into the intersection to cross over County Rd. 37. The S-10 pickup was driven by Debra Mursch (59-year-old from Rockford) at the time of the crash. Mursch was removed from her vehicle by Monticello Fire and Rescue and was pronounced deceased by Emergency Medical personnel at the scene.
