The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs has a long history of awarding service bonuses to Minnesota veterans who showed the sacrifice and courage to defend our country for more than a century serving in America’s wars.
In 2022, the Minnesota Legislature passed its first Veterans Omnibus Bill that was signed by Governor Tim Walz. The bill includes service bonuses to eligible veterans who served between Sept. 11, 2001 and Aug. 30, 2021. The program is funded with $25 million and veterans and their families are eligible for up to $2,000. The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs is facilitating this program for eligible veterans, current service members and veterans’ beneficiaries.
The application window will go live Thursday, July 7. For more information, visit the program website (www.MinnesotaVeteran.org/ServiceBonus) or to see frequently asked questions and links to apply or contact your local county Veterans Service Office.
