Hopefully this morning’s rain will knock a dent in it, but Wright County remains in Moderate Drought status according to the weekly U.S. Drought Monitor. All of Wright County remains in Moderate Drought condition, coming on the heels of record-setting drought last year. At this time last year, more than 95 percent was in drought conditions with more than 42 percent of the state in Extreme or Exceptional Drought. 2021 was the first time since the Drought Monitor has been operational that Minnesota had areas in the Exceptional Drought category.
