At 1:47 p.m. today, the National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning that includes Wright County. The warning is in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15. The storm may start as rain/freezing rain, but is expected to quickly turn over to snow. 4-7 inches of snow are expected and it will impact both the morning and evening commutes. Wright County Highway Department staff will be monitoring the timing of the rain/snow transition in the early morning hours Thursday. Drivers are urged to expect a markedly longer commute time because the storm is expected to ramp up in the early morning hours Thursday and last through Friday.
