A Message from the Wright County Sheriff’s Office:
The Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a youth snowmobile safety course on Sunday, Feb. 5 at the Sheriff’s Office Training Center (5577 County Road 35 W, Maple Lake). Check-in for the event begins at 7:30 a.m. with the class beginning promptly at 8 a.m.
The course is for boys and girls ages 11-15. Participants must have turned 11 before Feb. 5 to be eligible and must complete the online safety training course at www.snowmobilecourse.com/ to receive a certificate of completion prior to the class.
As of today (Thursday, Dec. 29) approximately 25 open spots remain. Registration must be completed in person at Trueman-Welter’s Powersports (1600 Hwy. 55 E, Buffalo) prior to the class date. No email or phone registrations will be accepted.
The cost for the course is $10 and participants will need the following: A printed snowmobile safety voucher to confirm completion of the on the online safety course, a copy of a birth certificate to verify age, cold winter clothing and a Department of Natural Resources-approved snowmobile helmet with eye protection. Anyone born after Dec. 31, 1976, is required to successfully complete a Minnesota-approved snowmobile safety course to ride on public lands.
