A Message from the Wright County License Center:
Tabs are due on all commercial vehicles and trailers at the end of February. Most commercial trucks require a Minnesota Department of Transportation (DOT) number for renewal and trucks with a gross weight of 55,000 pounds or greater require proof of Heavy Vehicle Use Tax paid (IRS form 2290). Farm trucks and trailers, non-commercial one-ton trucks, motor homes, motorcycles and mopeds are also due at the end of the month. Lastly, all recreational trailers (campers/fish houses/toy haulers) and utility/cargo, snowmobile, or boat trailers with a gross weight (weight of trailer plus the load) of 3,000 pounds or greater expire in February as well. Insurance information is required to renew, however, all trailers are exempt from the insurance requirement. These vehicles are not eligible to be renewed online, but they can be processed in person at our service counter, at our drive-thru located on the northwest corner of the Government Center, or through our 24-hour drop box which is also located on the northwest corner of the Government Center. Those with larger commercial fleets can drop their tabs off and pick up at a later time as well. February is a busy month for motor vehicle renewals with the last days of the month usually seeing an increase in wait times. Plan ahead to avoid the rush or skip it all together and use our 24-hour drop box. Thank you for using the Wright County License Center.
