Almost the entire state of Minnesota is under a Red Flag Warning from noon to 8 p.m. today (May 2), including Wright County. The combination of strong sustained winds and low humidity are ideal conditions for wildfires to start and spready quickly.
The Red Flag Warning, which is put out by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, is prohibiting burning of any kind and 76 of Minnesota’s 87 counties are under the warning. Winds are expected to die down later today, which is why the warning will be in place for just eight hours.
