This week (May 14-20) is National Police Week, an event that honors and remembers in law enforcement who have lost their lives protecting and serving their communities.
In 1962, President John F. Kenny signed a proclamation designating May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. During the week tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington D.C. to participate in events that honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Those of us in Wright County government would like to thank those law enforcement officers who answer the call for help and put themselves at risk to protect all of us.
