The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issued an Air Quality Alert for all of Minnesota through 11 p.m. Friday night (Aug. 18). For today (Aug. 17), the state is the Orange Air Quality Index (AQI), which is unhealthy for sensitive groups (the elderly, children, women who are pregnant and those with respiratory conditions).
For Friday, Wright County will be in a Red AQI category, which is unhealthy for all. Those who will be outdoors for prolonged periods of time Friday are urged to take precautions like limiting physical exertion and those in sensitive groups are being advised to stay inside.
Southerly winds coming Friday night are expected to disperse the ground level smoke from Canadian wildfires in time for the weekend.
