1. How do I deposit money on an inmate's account?: There are two ways to make a deposit into an inmates account. You can deposit money on an inmate's account through the Inmate Canteen website. This deposit requires a credit card. Also, you can deposit cash only into a Kiosk in the jail lobby. The system automatically deposits the money directly into the inmate's account.

2. How do I leave a message for an inmate?: You can call and leave a brief message on Inmate Voicemail by dialing 763-515-4160. DO NOT leave personal information or PHONE CARD numbers on the voice mail.

4. What is the "Huber Law"?: "Huber Law" or work release allows a person sentenced to jail to work at their regular place of employment during their normal working hours but they must return to the jail during their non-working hours. This opportunity is available at the discretion of the court and the inmate must pay the county $20 per day for this privilege.

5. What is the average daily population in the Wright County Jail?: During Calendar year 2021 the Average Daily Population (ADP) of the Wright County Jail was 150 persons, with an average length of stay of approximately 16 days. There were 3,901 adult bookings and 23 juvenile bookings.

6. What is "Pay-for-Stay"?: There is legislation which allows counties to charge a daily fee to convicted inmates. This daily fee, or per diem, is intended to offset some of the costs of incarceration. In February 2003, Wright County began charging $20 a day for inmate stays. In addition to the per diem rate, Wright County also bills the inmate for a booking fee of $25 and for reimbursement of any medical costs incurred while in custody. Unpaid invoices are submitted to a billing company for processing. Uncollected accounts are referred from there to a collection agency.

7. Who's in jail?: The Wright County Sheriff's Office provides information on adults in custody for public viewing via an internet connection. Jail Media Report is a listing all adults recently booked into the Wright County Jail. The Jail Census is a complete listing of adults currently in custody. These reports are updated and published daily, Monday - Friday, with the exception of holidays. Look up who is currently in jail by viewing the Jail Roster.

8. I need my fingerprints for a non-criminal matter. How do I get that done?: We do non-criminal/civilian fingerprints for adoptions, gun permits, teachers, and many other reasons. We currently do these at the Sheriff’s Office at 3800 Braddock Ave NE, Buffalo, We are open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. This office is closed on holidays. There is a $15 fee for county residents and out of county residents and businesses. Click here to make an appointment or call 763-684-2384.
